When I was in Prague, there were a couple of people talking about Guinness one night. It was a vegan friendly restaurant. One of them was convinced that Guinness is vegan in the UK.

If by any chance you’re reading this page, I’d just like to let you know that you’re wrong. Guinness always uses isinglass to filter their beer, and they are in complete denial about the existence of any vegetarian alternatives (e.g. seaweed).

I knew all this at the time, but I did double check just in case. And I was still right.

After a short break, my bike is now back on the road. Not only that, but I have also given up beer. Again. Because I did crack and have a few over the weekend. Coffee, too. And processed foods. I had detoxed before, in November. You don’t realise how good it makes you feel until you stop and eat crap again. Crap sandwich. Crap on toast. Chips, peas, and crap. Even though it was all vegan. So I shall detox again, and ride the bike, and go to the gym. And come March, perhaps I’ll keep it up.

One night in the pub

and i remember
that time
sitting with a beer
a couple of days after
you’d told me
now
wasn’t the right time

and me, and my beer
were with a mate
when you came in
with someone else
saw me
my beer, and my mate
as
we sat
turned around, and
I didn’t see you leave
