I used to wake
see your face
on the pillow
beside me
but the flies
got in my eyes
so you had to go

Its not my fault
didn’t want a drink
but
I have to support
parental expectation
and their gift of
the initials

a couple of days after
you’d told me
now
wasn’t the right time

and me, and my beer
were with a mate
when you came in
with someone else
saw me
my beer, and my mate
as
we sat
turned around, and
I didn’t see you leave

tearing out the coupons

DEATH
in the paper,

had a bad heart
